Blocking

Blocking certain domains can speed up your connection and enhance your browsing experience.
When you block an advertising domain, you can prevent having your browser spend time downloading the advertising or banners, and you can prevent being tracked by the advertisers.
In addition, you can block Adult content domains or other sites you do not wish to view, or have others view on your computer, while browsing. Best of all, unlike many programs that block content, it does it without slowing the operation of your browser or Internet connection.

CyberOptimizer contains some pre-prepared lists of domains that can be blocked. These lists contain many thousands of domains. Note that when CyberOptimizer is set to block a domain, it will block the entire domain and cannot be set to block a particular page within the domain. Depending on how you have set your options (See the Options section), the blocking of these domains can work even if CyberOptimizer is not currently running.

Using the prepared blocked sites lists:

If the box marked "Use Imported Ad Site Block List" is checked, CyberOptimizer will use its internal list along with any domains you specify. This internal list is intended to block many advertising banners and tracking sites.

If the box marked "Use Imported Adult Site Block List" is checked, CyberOptimizer will use its internal list along with any domains you specify. This internal list is intended to block many adult oriented domains.

Of course both lists can be used.

Download New Blocked Lists
The lists are updated from time to time. To get the latest lists, make sure you are online and click this button. The lists are large. If you are on a dialup connection, it may take a while to download.

To Add a site to block:

You can add you own domains to be blocked. Type the domain name in the box marked "Add a Site to Block". The domain name must be just the domain name and not a specific page. For example:
www.badsite.com is fine. www.badsite.com/index.html is not correct because it specifies a specific page. If you make a mistake here, CyberOptimizer will attempt to correct it for you. If you want to see if this domain is already blocked, type in the domain and click the "Check" button.

To Delete a Site

Click on the domain name in the list to select it. Then click the Delete button.

Please note: CyberOptimizer cannot possibly block every unwanted site or advertisement. It does have the capability to block many thousands of domains. If you have a site that you would like to submit to be added to one of the block lists, please do so at the CyberOptimizer home page at:
